Appalachian ATVentures Festival (May 1-5, 2019)

This small-town festival was established to not only bring a Spring off-road event to the Hatfield McCoy Area but to showcase all outdoor activities throughout Southern, WV and to be a partner to the LJHCC to help raise money for their Summer Feeding Program for Children in need! Come out for a weekend of outdoor fun for a great cause. #RideForHunger2019

Logan Shrine Club Poker Run- Reason to Ride (May 4, 2019)

Have an ATV, UTV, dirt bike or Jeep? Come out to support a great cause and experience the Bearwallow Trail System!

Dirt Days is a festival held April 26th, 27th, and 28th 2019 in Downtown Williamson, West Virginia that showcases some of the best Side-By-Side, ATV, and Dirtbike Trails in North America. The festival includes many industry-related vendors, an awesome local food scene, hundreds of miles of trail riding within a 1/4 mile of the city, a parade, and more!

The 2019 Dirt Days Event will consist of:

• -Immediate Access to 300+ Miles of Trail Riding on the Buffalo Mountain, Devil Anse and Rock House Trails
• -Immediate Access to the MOST single-trails of ANY Hatfield McCoy Trail System for Dirtbike Riders
• -Mudpit (Specific Location in Williamson TBA, 12PM-8PM on Friday, 10AM-8PM on Saturday)
• -Poker Night (Friday Night-Downtown Williamson at The Special Events Party & Event Room)
• -Poker Run (Time TBA)
• -Live Musical Entertainment (Friday and Saturday Night from 6PM-10PM; Downtown Williamson)
• -Vendors and Showcases (Friday from 2PM-10PM and Saturday from 10AM-10PM; Downtown Williamson)
• -Car/Bike Show (Saturday 10AM-2PM; Downtown Williamson on 1st Avenue)
• -Tug of War (at the Mudpit) – (Saturday at 4PM)
• -Parade (Saturday at 5PM Downtown Williamson)

All updated maps can be found either on our website (each trail page has a link to view/download the map for that trail) or at one of our Trailhead facilities/Welcome Centers. If you are using a map or GPS tablet from another source, please know that these maps could be outdated or incorrect and could be sending you to unsafe areas that are currently off-limits or private property. The Hatfield McCoy Regional Recreation Authority (Authority) has reached a verbal agreement with the Coal Company (Company) on a solution to keep the Pocahontas Trail System open. The Authority and Company will work in a cooperative manner to address outstanding issues such as: outlaw trail riding, trespassing onto bonded Company operations and the need for increased law enforcement for the Pocahontas and surrounding trail systems. The February 1, 2019 temporary closure date has been lifted and the Pocahontas Trail System will remain open after that date. The Authority, Company and the State of West Virginia will continue working on these and other outstanding issues to ensure a permanent solution for the Pocahontas Trail System. The Authority would like to express its gratitude to the Company for their continued support during this time.

The Hatfield-McCoy Regional Recreation Authority’s license agreement for the use of the property encompassing the current Pocahontas trail system has been extended untilFriday, February 1, 2019. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to work through this process.

The Hatfield McCoy Regional Recreation Authorities (Authority) license agreement for the use of the property encompassing the current Pocahontas trail system has been extended until January 14, 2019. The coal company (Company) who granted the agreement was able to extend their current agreement while continuing their work with the Authority to find long term solutions for trail expansion consistent with safety and mining development. The Company is currently developing a significant new mining operation for Mercer and McDowell Counties which will provide hundreds of new high paying jobs for the region. The Company and the Authority, along with state and county officials, are working closely to ensure safety for trail riders and workers while trying to develop long term solutions beneficial to all parties. We appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

The Pocahontas Trail System will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, December 3rd, 2018, due to natural resource extraction.

This closure will remain in effect until otherwise notified by the Hatfield-McCoy Trails Authority. Please note that this area is private property and safety is a concern. The Authority staff is currently working with landowners to identify alternative routes for this area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.

• The Warrior Trail System is now open. Permits and merchandise are available on-site between 9:00am to 2:00pm. Permits may also be purchased in the City of War at: War Town Hall, War Home Center and Coalfield Café. Permits may also be purchased at Eva’s House in Gary, WV. Construction of the Warrior Trailhead facility is in progress.
• The Hatfield-McCoy Trails Staff are currently working with land owners to offer a community connector trail to the City of Welch from the Warrior Trail System. Stay tuned for more updates!
• Trail 14/Delbarton Connector on Buffalo Mountain has reopened.
• The Town of Gilbert will host TrailFest on October 4th – 8th. Visit https://trailsheaven.com/trailfest/ for registration and more information.
• The Hatfield-McCoy Trails Field Crew will begin construction of the Twin Falls Connector soon. This connector will access the town of Mullens, WV which connects to the Pinnacle Creek Trail System.
• The Entrepreneurship and Business Coaching Center of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College will be hosting a FREE QuickBooks workshop on September 26, 2018.For more information, please call 304-752-3255.

On the Rockhouse Trail System, trails 45 and 25 have reopened.

The Pinnacle Creek, Indian Ridge and Pocahontas Trail Systems now have access to the City of Welch and the Town of Kimball. View current map.

The Warrior Trail System, which will contain roughly 60 miles of trails, is on schedule to open Labor Day weekend. The Warrior Trail System will have access to the Towns of War and Gary.
